December 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

You love Engineers. Pigeon Versus Statue loves Engineers. Now it appears word is getting around and who better to blow their trumpet about the band’s new album, Three Fact Fader than the uber-cool, Under The Radar. St Helens Nab Mess And Noise’s ‘Best New Act’ In 2009 Readers Poll!

December 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment

St Helens...kinda sorta new-ish

A hearty congrats goes out to Australia’s St Helens who beat out stiff competitors (such as The Middle East) to take out Mess and Noise’s 2009 Readers Poll award for “Best New-ish Act’. Their debut album, Heavy Profession was released earlier this year via Dot Dash and certainly stirred up a bevy of praise such as Electric Roulette who asserted that the record plays “like a roadmovie Jesus and Mary Chain”.

You can read Mess and Noise’s full account right here.

The Black Ryder Come Down Sweetly

October 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Australian duo, The Black Ryder (Aimee Nash and Scott Von Ryper) create sublimely dark blends of churning, layered guitars and sweetly hypnotic vocals washed with a 50’s stint of unrequited love. The album is being prepared for an international release but in the meantime, they’ve created the haunting, No Country For Old Men-infused video to the single, Sweet Come Down.

Art vs Science – Cunning Linguists

October 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Art vs Science isn’t here to get a haircut. They’re here to melt your mind!

They’re also here to remind us that creating dance music is not just about bass-blowing electro-rock anthems (of which they have many); rather it’s about taking those songs and in a live forum setting everyone’s fire-retardant dancing kicks ablaze. If you walk away from an Art vs Science live show without an altered gait and/ or state-of-mind, you were clearly not paying attention.

Check out the mime-tastic new video for ‘Parlez-Vous Francais?’ here:
